Who’s Kidding Who – Let’s Legalize U.S. Online Gambling

US online gamblingI don’t mean to be indigent about the matter, but who’s kidding who. We have gambling in virtually every state of the union. Whether it’s the horse race tracks that stretch across the U.S., or the slot machines and poker rooms inside those race tracks, or the casinos on “Riverboats” and Indian Reservations, or just the state sponsored gambling – the lotteries, scratchoffs and PowerBALL!! And, let’s don’t forget those destination Mecca’s of Las Vegas and Atlantic City.

I can’t remember the last time I was anywhere in the United States where I could not drive to a major casino within 30 minutes. Yet, we keep living under the illusion that there is something unseemly if not downright immoral about gambling online. Well, it is happening, of course. Every day, all across the U.S., players are getting online and gambling. Whether it’s playing the NFL at their favorite online sports book, or finding a seat in their favorite online poker room, or playing a little blackjack, Americans are on the internet every day playing.

So what do we gain out of this charade that gambling shouldn’t be allowed online. One thing we guarantee is that any regulation of it is done somewhere else and, let’s face it, that usually means it’s not done at all. Now I’m not pointing any fingers, but in small island countries where online gambling has become a major part of their economy, don’t we really have the wolves guarding the henhouse.

Another thing we get is to let someone other than the United States benefit from all those tax dollars that the regulating country receives. At a time when we have staggering federal deficits, we certainly would want to bring in millions of dollars of tax revenue off of online gaming.

Does this remind anyone of anything? I don’t know if you’re watching the new HBO series “Boardwalk Empire.” But, I swear 1920 Atlantic City is difficult to distinguish from 2010 Anywhere USA. No one wanted prohibition more than the bootleggers. The biggest opponents of legalized gambling in the U.S. are those who are doing it offshore and keeping the big Vegas boys out of the business. It’s the wild west out there right now, and it’s about time someone stood up, stopped all the nonsense, and began to tame it.

Just when it looked like we were headed in this direction, Congress up and passed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006, which purposes to have banks and financial institutions stop the transfer of funds from your and my banking accounts to offshore casinos. Well, that was a huge setback. A bill has been introduced in Congress to reverse the effect of the UIGEA and allow for online poker rooms to operate in the United States, but this bill did not make it to House floor for a vote in 2009.

Gambling is an accepted part of American life. Anyone that tries to tell you otherwise is just kidding you (and maybe themselves). Let’s just get this behind us, acknowledge what already is, and start moving forward with American based online gambling.

Playing Texas Hold ‘Em: One Showdown After Another!

Online poker table with flop revealed in a game of Texas Hold 'EmThe Texas Hold ‘Em craze is not slowing down, and online poker sites are offering new variations to keep the game vibrant. Perhaps the biggest complaint from the online poker player – other than losing – is how long it often takes to play a game. A multi-table tournament with a group of patient, sophisticated players can simply be a lengthy ordeal. Plus, you will often find yourself in a game with a player who is distracted (either playing more than one game, reading a book while playing, painting their toenails, or something), taking way too much time to make their decision.

The single nine player Sit and Go table was the first attempt to confine the time requirements of the game. Then came the six player game, and finally the heads up version. Next came the “turbo” version where a player was given less time to make a decision and the blinds increased at a more rapid rate. Now, we have the “super turbo” version where the “turbo” game is played with a short stack. Online poker rooms may have hit a home run with this one, because not only is it quick, but it is a whole new level of fun and excitement.

One of the more popular versions is the “Super Turbo” game at Full Tilt Poker. The blinds increase every three minutes. But, the biggest change is that you start with a short stack of 300 chips, only 10 times the original Big Blind. Playing a short stack always requires just the right amount of patience and aggression. You will not get very many opportunities to double up, but when one presents itself you don’t want to miss it.

In this short stack version of Texas Hold ‘Em, there are essentially two results to a hand. The most likely is that all players fold to one – generally before the flop, otherwise right after. The other is that two or more players are all in. You want to keep your chips out of the middle unless you will be willing to push them all in. If you try to bet something less, it is very likely that someone will come over the top demanding you put it all at risk. If you aren’t prepared to do that, you will have dramatically shrunk you stack by pushing a huge part of it out on the table.

So what am I looking for when I play Super Turbo Texas Hold ‘Em? Give me a coin flip or better, and I will push my money in almost every time. If someone has pushed ahead of me, I will give some consideration as to whether I believe I have the better hand, e.g., less likely if I have a small pair, in which case, I might fold. But, otherwise, I am shoving them all to the center with a 50-50 shot. That’s any pair or two likely overcards, or to be more specific:

Pair v. 2 undercards 83%
Pair v. lower pair 82%
Pair v. 1 overcarrd, 1 undercard 71%
2 overcards v. 2 undercards 63%
Pair v. 2 overcards 55%

That’s the guts of the game. One showdown after another!

Position can be used in “Super Turbo” Hold ‘Em to buy a blind or two, which is useful to get back the blinds you have had to let go (there is no “protecting your children” in “Super Turbo”). But, largely it’s a game where you set and wait, then given the chance, pounce. Of course, you will lose some of these attempts to double up. But over the long run, the probabilities will work out.

Own the Casino before It Owns You

Own online casino pictureWhen is the House Edge to your advantage?  When you’re the house.  It is estimated that there are some 70 million gaming sites on the internet and you might be surprised about who is behind some of them.  It might be the guy that lives across the hall from you at college, or the quiet old man in the cubicle down in accounting, or maybe it’s your mom and dad trying to make a little extra cash.

“Turnkey Casinos” are being offered all over the internet by casino software developers, some of whom are the very developers that provide software for some of the big name online casinos.  But they aren’t choosey and they aren’t expensive, and they would be happy to provide the software to run on your site for a small fee.  In fact, one casino software company boasts that they will have your online casino up and running in seconds!

There it is right on the internet:  “Bob’s Casino.”  You might work on the name and make it a little flashier (maybe something like “Lucky Bob’s”), because your casino looks just like some of the big time operations and you are bound to have players soon walking up to your cyberspace door with bags of money.  You can have all the casino games, including craps, poker, blackjack, roulette, keno, and slots.  And, you can even have a sportsbook.  The developer that “sold” you all these games, will include in their casino software everything you need to take deposits, track players, and track their winnings and their losses.  Just make sure when someone wants to draw what’s left from their account or, heaven forbid, someone actually hits that astronomical payout that the casino software developer told you was so unlikely, it was like it would never happen, you’ve got some reserves to pay them.

Now, I’m sure you see some of the problems here.  While it would be cool to own a casino, the more likely result is that you will end up playing at a casino that looks like the real deal, but is really no more than a shell set up by some software developer for a guy that didn’t have any resources other than what he paid the developer.  We don’t know if he knows how to manage money, and we don’t know if he’ll have the funds to pay us if we win.  In fact, if we aren’t careful the days of offshore bookies going bankrupt will not only not just be a thing of the past, but we could have a rash of belly up online casinos like never imaged before.

Of course, to an extent the risk here is the same as many things on the internet.  Unrestrained, unbridled capitalism is at work.  There is no one to protect you but yourself.  As getting online and giving your money to others becomes easier and easier, we can’t be lulled into thinking that because it’s easy, it will always work as we want.  Do your own research.  One of the advantages of the unrestrained, unbridled internet is if someone has had problems with an online casino, there will be plenty of discussion about it on the internet.

USA online sportsbook betting – Beating the Line

USA online sports bettingLook at any NFL or NBA game and you will marvel at how accurate the betting line is.  With time expiring, the New England Patriots are driving down the field.  You turn on your computer and check your online sportsbook.  Yes, you took the Patriots -6.  If Brady can get them in the end zone, and they make the extra point, you will push on your bet.  “How do those guys in Vegas know,” you scream as you size up your best case is a push and your worst case is a loss.  But just then Wes Welker pulls in a floater from Tom Brady, both feet drag through the end zone, and the referee shoots up two arms signaling touchdown!  A push is a lot better than a loss.

Online sports betting is just like betting in person at the sportsbook, only better!  When you play online, you have all the resources at your fingertips that the big players have.  Your mission is to use that information to beat the line.  Theoretically, the casino doesn’t care which side of the game you take.  They will move the line up and down drawing money where it is needed to keep the line balanced.  In a perfect world, the casino will have the same dollars on both sides of a bet.  They will take the money from the losers, pull out the vig for their own profit, and then pay off the winners.

Before a game, the casino sportsbook experts produce their own line.  Today, this line is calculated using extensive computer algorithms.  Models of the game designed to take in all kinds of factors are run and rerun.  When it’s all said and done, the computer model will generate a number for the line.  Your job, as a sports gambler, is to find the line with the flaw.

Before you look at the betting line, make your own! Find your favorite power ratings for the sport at issue.  I use the Jeff Sagarin computer ratings, but there are others.  For the game you are interested in, find the power rating of the better team.  Then, subtract the power rating of the other team.  Adjust this number for home field, and that is your line.

Let’s look at a real example for week 6 of the 2010 USA NFL season.  The New York Jets are traveling to Mile High Stadium to play the Denver Broncos.  The Jets have a power ranking of 25.93; the Broncos have a power ranking of 20.15.  Subtracting the latter from the former, we see that on a neutral field we could expect the Jets to be 5.78 points better than the Broncos.  But, Denver has home field, and the power rankings say that has been worth 2.88 points so far this season.  We subtract that number from the first, and find out that this Sunday in Denver we should expect the Jets to be 2.9 points better than the Broncos.  What was the opening line?  It was 3 points!  Exactly where we would have put it.

When you agree with the opening line, you pass on the game.  But, you will find games where you believe the line is suspect.  Plus, it is likely that the public will move the line up or down.  The guys that set the opening line know what they are doing.  Pay attention when there is a big gap between their line and the current betting line.

5 Tips of playing at online casinos

You should know that casinos are not charity; they are in the business to make a profit. It is obvious that the casino chances are always on the side of the casino not the player. On our website, Top-usa-online-casinos.com, we strive to offer you good tips and advices that can help increase your chances and lower the casino’s.

1. Make sure you know the playing instructions

This is the easiest and simplest thing to do. All you need to do is to understand the game instructions, know what to do in order to play in the right way, know the bet limits, the odds on every bet you place and the strategies you should follow.

Another important thing is to understand how to manage your game in the online casino. This means that you should know what buttons to click. If you think that this is not important then, ask those who have lost lots of money because they do not what to click and what to do.

Before you bet with real money, take your time to view the hands and the games before you dive into action. If you think that you do not understand something, take a second to talk to a casino representative to make sure that everything is clear. They are here to support.

2. Play in a relaxed mode

If you feel tired or if you are drunk or frustrated then it is not the good time to play in online casino. In such times, you won’t be playing well and most likely you will make the wrong decisions while you are playing.

Drinking while playing could be dangerous for your bank balance. While you are drunk, you can easily place large wagers without noticing that you are exceeding your limit. Next day, you will feel bad hang over and you will also feel the hole in your wallet as well.

3. Money should be spent wisely

This one is the amendment of the first tip (understand the instructions of your game). You should always put in your consideration that even if you are just clicking your mouse, you are still spending real money. So, if you are not fully aware of what you are doing then you are simply wasting your earnings.

And because money is earned in a hard way, therefore you should play in the right way. Playing online is a funny and exciting experience so, make sure you are spending money in the right way in order to keep it a funny experience all the time.

4. Always check your status

This tip is also very important and it should be applied all the time. Always make sure of your position and do not get carried away with what is happening in the casino. For example, if you are winning hands successfully then do not try to double your wagers as you are the invincible player.

You can easily get a bad hand that sweeps all your earnings in one second. Also if you are losing, do not be stubborn trying to compensate what you have lost. Walk away if you have reached the limit of your session budget and come back when you feel good again.

5. Make sure you are enjoying your time

As a matter of fact, the casino has the odds on his side as this is what it keeps the casino into the business. Make sure that you accept that sometimes you won’t come out winner. Through applying these tips, you will be able to increase your winning odds against the casino.

Always make sure that you are enjoying your time, do not feel down if you are losing as on other times you will get out with some good earnings. Feeling the joy of play, is the real profit of online games, no matter if you are winning or losing.

4 points you should consider prior to entering online casinos

From our point of view, there are four factors that should be checked for being present in order to consider the online casino eligible to be used for playing online casino games. These four factors are the accessibility of the casino, whether it is reliable or not, the customer support level of the casino and the means of security of the casino. Each of these factors is explained fully below.

1. Accessibility level:

obviously, the casino is not only hosting you but, it is hosting many players in the same time. It is essential to make sure that the casino is able to host such large number of players in the same time. The casino should be able to manage the requests and inquiries of the players, the in – game actions of every player and the game actions and animations. If the casino is not able to handle such actions then the game would be very slow and players would feel bored. The best thing is that all the casinos mentioned on this website are featuring strong accessibility tools and are able to manage many players in the same time.

2. Dependability of the casino:

dependability of the casino is as important as the accessibility point. In this point, our main concern is the company managing the casino and who is managing everything. If you find a new casino mentioned in our website then, you can try it with confidence because we had thoroughly tested every bit of it and knew everything about it. Through this process, you can be sure that the casinos mentioned here are always of high quality and that you can use our site to find trustworthy information about casinos.

3. Customer support:

from our point of view, we think that customer support is a vital factor for online casino rating. This is because of one thing, you are dealing with the casino on basis of mutual trust so, you should be able to talk to someone responsible and this person should be available to reply 24/7. Because of this, we have done our homework to make sure that the online casinos that we feature here in our website are really enjoying a high level of customer care and comprehensive services. Even if you are not taking our word for it then you can easily try the service yourself through trying the customer service on your own.

4. The security level:

this is the first factor that you should be considering as the security is the determining factor of the casinos that you can play at. When it comes down to the security, you can be sure that all the software program developers like Microgaming, Realtime Gaming and Vegas technologies have developed their programs over a wide span of years. They developed both ends of the program (the user interface and the back operation end). The long experience of these companies made their programs concrete solid. Moreover, you should always look for other signs of security like the license of the casino, where it was issued from and eCogra approval.
